Support for climate-friendly trucks: EU Commission gives green light for extension

A German subsidy scheme that promotes greener commercial vehicle fleets may be extended beyond 2024. This has been approved by the European Commission under EU state aid rules.
The objective of the scheme is to promote: the purchase of climate-friendly commercial vehicles; the retrofitting of existing commercial vehicles; the development of infrastructure for charging/fueling climate-friendly commercial vehicles; and the commissioning of relevant environmental studies. Germany notified the Commission of its intention to extend the scheme until the end of 2026 and to provide additional funding of €4.5 billion for the measure.
