The logistics sector remains a key economic factor in Lower Saxony. This is the result of the “Marktspiegel Logistik” published today: With more than 260,000 employees in the logistics sector, investments in logistics real estate amounting to 900 million euros in 2021 and 3,300 newly created jobs, the growth trend of recent years is continuing despite the crisis.

Particularly during the Corona pandemic, the industry impressively demonstrated that it can largely guarantee continuous supply to the population and the economy even under the most difficult conditions. The quality of connections to the transport infrastructure and the proximity to logistics centers remain indispensable for the success of logistics. The state will therefore continue to support the expansion of freight transport centers and inland ports in order to strengthen innovative companies in these logistics hubs. This also applies to Hannover-Langenhagen Airport, which as a northern German traffic hub makes a key contribution to the mobility, connectivity and competitiveness of Lower Saxony as a business location. This was announced by Lower Saxony’s Economics Minister Olaf Lies
